Advanced Grade Only Class – We run several Brown Belt and Above classes throughout the week at several of our venues, you are now welcome to train at these classes. As part of our Advanced Grade offering, two of the classes at The Dojo Norwich which focus specifically on advanced content and Dan Grade syllabus to help get you ready for your eventual Shodan grading. These classes follow the usual 3-week rotation covering Kihon, Kata and Kumite to ensure each element is taught equally. These classes introduce a specific Kata rotation programme focused on each of the four Sentei Kata. These classes run on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30pm at The Dojo Norwich.
Uniform & Equipment – Remember, you need to arrive to Karate with the correct uniform and equipment. For each class you need to wear a Gi and your belt. For Kumite (Sparring) week you should also bring your hand pads (compulsory) and a mouthguard (optional). Any equipment you need to bring to Karate can be purchased from our shop, accessed by clicking HERE.
TSKUK Courses & Competitions – The TSKUK (Traditional Shotokan Karate UK) to which all ESKA members are automatically affiliated, hold two free national karate courses, and two subsidised international karate courses and two national competitions every year. For more information, click HERE.
Grading Requirements – To grade to Brown & White Belt 2nd Kyu, you will need to complete a minimum of 6 months training period and 40 lessons. You will also need to learn your new Grading Syllabus. Personal Tuition – One-to-one tuition is available with the senior ESKA instructors. A personal tuition session is an ideal opportunity for some individually-tailored tuition or to make up any shortfall of lessons as each session is worth three class stamps. For more information, click here.
Unlimited Training – If you are training once a week and would like to benefit from the extra training, you can upgrade your membership to unlimited, enabling you to train as many times as you would like. To upgrade, click here to email the ESKA Office.
Now that you have reached brown belt, it may be time to get yourself a new Gi. We have a range of Gis available which are made of a higher quality material than our Beginner Gis and are a traditional Japanese cut. These can be purchased from our shop and delivered to your training venue of choice for you to collect when you next train.
