This event is the perfect opportunity for taking your first steps into the exciting world of competitive Karate. We understand that participating in your first Karate competition can be both exciting and nerve-wracking for children and adults. This event will provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere, ensuring everyone feels motivated and confident throughout the competition. It’s an experience not to be missed.
???? Individual Kata and Individual Kumite Events:
Competitors can showcase their Karate skills in Individual Kata (your choice of Kata) and Individual Kumite (Free Sparring) events. ???? Fair Competitions:
The categories in this competition will be separated based on belt colour, age, gender, and height (where appropriate), ensuring that competitors will compete against opponents of similar abilities, making the event as fair as possible. Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for Kata and 1st, 2nd & joint 3rd place for Kumite.
????Exclusively Available for ESKA Members:
This exciting competition is exclusively available for ESKA members, providing a unique opportunity for members to engage with fellow Karate enthusiasts within our club.
????Date and Venue:
1.30pm Sunday 7th July 2024. The competition will be held at The Dojo Norwich, NR6 6AX.
????Equipment Needed:
Kata events do not require any additional equipment beyond your Karate uniform and belt. Kumite categories require Hand Pads (Red or White) and Gumshields (any colour).

The event showcased a wide array of karate skills, with competitors from various age groups taking part in Kata and Pairs Kata disciplines. Participants from beginners to seasoned black belts displayed exceptional precision and expertise, engaging the audience and judges.
Kata involved performers executing a series of moves in a fixed sequence, simulating defense and attack motions against imaginary foes, with judges evaluating based on technique, timing, and the demonstration of power.
Beyond being a competitive event, the ESKA Kata competition celebrated the club’s ethos of sportsmanship, discipline, respect, and continual growth.

Kata involved performers executing a series of moves in a fixed sequence, simulating defense and attack motions against imaginary foes, with judges evaluating based on technique, timing, and the demonstration of power and grace.
Kumite, the sparring element, added an exciting dynamic with athletes demonstrating their quickness, agility, and strategy in scoring points through controlled, accurate strikes.
Emphasizing the importance of safety and fair play, the matches were closely monitored to maintain a respectful and competitive environment. The high-energy battles and the display of martial arts skills made for an exhilarating spectacle for everyone present.
Beyond being a competitive event, the ESKA Kata and Kumite competition celebrated the club’s ethos of discipline, respect, and continual growth. The participation of over 100 individuals underscored the depth and variety of karate talent within the club.

Halloween is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about your costume. Do you want to be a classic vampire or maybe a spooky ghost? How about a superhero or a character from your favorite movie or TV show? The possibilities are endless!
Make sure your costume is unique, creative, and sure to impress, but don’t forget, we will still be training hard to work off those Halloween treats, so make sure your costume is comfortable and practical enough to wear whilst training.
You never know, you might just bag the prize for the best costume! So, gear up for a spooktacular Halloween, dress to kill, and let the fun begin!

ESKA members representing the TSKUK attended the annual WUKF World Championships from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th July. The championships were held at Dundee Ice Arena, Dundee, Scotland.
The TSKUK Squad was made up from members of Eastern Shotokan Karate Association & Westwood Karate Academy.
