We are please to announce on the 10th Anniversary of the TSKUK we will be holding our first ever Online Zoom Members National Course on Sunday 2nd August 2020.

This course will give the TSKUK members a chance to train together again, ensuring that we continue our karate development, cooperation and community, even though we are unable to physically train next to one another.

The course will be run by Sensei Alan Parrish 7th Dan, Sensei Jason Hitchings 6th Dan, Sensei Nathan Bond 5th Dan, Sensei Carol Parrish 4th Dan, Sensei Dan Jones 4th Dan, Sensei Charlie Tarr 4th Dan, Sensei Marites Tomlinson 5th Dan, Sensei David Lynskey 3rd Dan, Sensei Mason Gill 3rd Dan and Sensei Mary Hitchings 3rd Dan.

Times

All Black Belts and Brown Belts 11.00am – 1.00pm

All Yellow Belt to Purple and White Belts 1.30pm – 3.30pm

All Beginner to Orange Belts 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Classes will be suitable for all ages and grades

We will be emailing all members with the Zoom login codes and passwords nearer to the course date.

The course is FREE to all ESKA/TSKUK members and each attending member will receive an Official TSKUK Grading Stamp.

Please note that ONLY ONLINE Tiny Tiger classes will be running as normal on Sunday 2nd August 2020. Physical classes at The Dojo Norwich will not be running to accommodate the course.

ESKA Instructor Training

Jason Sensei will be continuing the instructor training sessions virtually – every Monday evening at 6pm. This will ensure the ESKA Instructors are continuing their development ready for when normal class can hopefully resume soon.

ESKA Karate

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. Following the announcement by the Government yesterday I have been left with no alternative but to cancel all bookings and events that involve direct contact with our members to help fight the spread of Covid-19, I wanted to take this opportunity to confirm the details of your membership following an unprecedented volume of enquiries.

For the reasons noted above, I have been left with no alternative but to cancel the following events. These events will be rescheduled at a later date.

• Private Adult Grading on Saturday 28th March 2020 at The Dojo Norwich.
• Black Belt Grading on Sunday 5th April 2020 at The Dojo Norwich
• Pre-Grading Training Session on Monday 23rd and Monday 30th March 2020 at The Dojo Norwich.
• All Personal Tuition Sessions.

What we will be providing for our members

• Membership payments will now be frozen until the Club can re-open
• We will not be taking any payments or fees during the Club’s closure.
• We will offer one free live online class a day for our members to join in with at home.
• We will then share that live class on our YouTube channel for all our members who missed the live class.
• Details of our live classes will be announced later today on our Social Media Account and Website

This weekend has been emotional and I am so proud of the incredible attitude and spirit shown by the ESKA Team as we closed down the Club.  I mention emotional as this is perhaps the last time for a while that the team will see their friends, fellow members, training friends and work colleagues, all of whom make up the ESKA Team.  I know what a special place this is to so many of you.  We will miss you all and look forward to seeing you online and sharing our virtual karate training.

Dear Member

Given the current uncertainty I wanted to let you know that ESKA is open where venues allow and we hope to see you at training.

Please be assured both your and our team members safety is and always will be our priority. My team and I have been working tirelessly to ensure our Dojo and venues are as clean and safe as they can be, and we have significantly increased our cleaning regimes at The Dojo Norwich. We have paid particular attention to ensure frequently touched points are wiped down more regularly.

We have emailed notices to remind all members to wash their hands well, for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water, as this is believed to be the most effective way of trying to stay healthy. Based on your feedback we have also added two hand sanitisers in the Café and on the first floor and we would ask members to use these every time they visit The Dojo Norwich.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to you, and to all of our members for supporting us.

Social Distancing

We are aiming to keep all of our facilities available to you where possible, so we would like to ask for your support. To help with the social distancing approach we are creating more space for members, bearing the 2 metre Government guideline in mind during classes. We will put some posters up at the Dojo entrance to remind everyone about social distancing too.

We have also implemented these guidelines to our instructors.

Tiny Tigers Karate

• Where possible try to maintain a 2 metre distance between all students during class.
• Standing bows to avoid contact with the Dojo floor.
• There should be no holding hands at the start or end of class.
• Warm ups – no physical contact between students. Please ensure that we only do on-the- spot warm ups until further notice.
• All partner work (kumite where there is contact) must stop during sessions until further notice.
• Ensure during warm up that all students are spaced out as much as possible and that all mats are used during the warm up, trying where possible to maintain a 2 metre distance between students.
• Instructors not to make physical contact with any student and all instruction must be given verbally.

Junior and Adult Karate

• Warm ups – no physical contact between students. Please ensure that we only do on-the- spot warm ups until further notice.
• All partner work (kumite where there is contact) must stop during sessions until further notice. Kumite can be practiced solo (without a partner) like a kata or with a minimum 2 metre
• distance between partners during training.
• Ensure during warm up that all students are spaced out as much as possible and that all the training space is used during the warm up, trying where possible to maintain a 2 metre distance between students.
• Instructors not to make physical contact with any student and all instruction must be given verbally.

TSKUK Black Belt Grading – Sunday 5th April 2020
At The Dojo Norwich

Due to the current Coronavirus crisis and the Government advice, we have chosen to move the TSKUK Black Belt Grading from Clements Hall Leisure Centre to the Dojo Norwich on Sunday 5th April 2020.

We will take the following steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our members.

• There will be no training course before the grading to minimise contact time spent with students. We will provide a warmup.
• We will only allow 10 students to test at any one time and we will contact you to confirm your grading time.
• We will not allow spectators to attend the grading.
• All graders will need to be dressed in their Karate-Gi as there will be no suitable changing facilities available, there will be toilets available.
• All graders will need to bring their own water for hydration as there will be no refreshments available.
• We will conduct the whole grading in full and give results to each group before we start the next grading group.
• Students will use separate entrance and exits points to The Dojo Norwich to minimise contact between people.
• We will maintain a 2 metre distance between all students during the grading.
• Warmups – no physical contact between students. All partner work (kumite where there is contact) will be done in a no contact format.
• Instructors not to make physical contact with any student and all instruction must be given verbally.

To ensure the safety of our students and parents please do not attend the Black Belt Grading if you or anybody you are in contact with are showing or have symptoms relating to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Guidelines can be found HERE.
